CSHIHE/OPW Scholarship in Country House Studies, Maynooth University
The Centre for the Study of Historic Irish Houses and Estates (CSHIHE), Department of History, Maynooth University, Republic of Ireland, in conjunction with The Office of Public Works (OPW), is offering a PhD in History Scholarship (full-time, fully funded over four years), commencing in September 2024.
The candidate will be registered for the structured PhD programme at Maynooth University and the degree will be awarded by the University. In addition to completing a thesis, the candidate will be expected to contribute to public outcomes (lectures and seminar presentations, exhibitions, publications) over the course of the PhD.
CSHIHE/OPW Scholarship in Country House Studies, Maynooth University
The Centre for the Study of Historic Irish Houses and Estates (CSHIHE), Department of History, Maynooth University, Republic of Ireland, in conjunction with The Office of Public Works (OPW), is offering a PhD in History Scholarship (full-time, fully funded over four years), commencing in September 2024.
The doctoral thesis will draw extensively on archival material relating to a select number of historic houses and landed estates in Ireland that are managed by the OPW (in particular Doneraile, Altamont, Kilmacurragh, Emo Court).
Scholarship
The scholarship value is about 114,000 Euro and includes a 4-year tax-free stipend (22,000 Euro annually), registration fee, a travel budget for international travel to conferences and a new computer.
Minimum Requirements and Evaluation Process
A 2.1 grade (or equivalent) in an undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Science, or a similar technical discipline.
Some programming ability.
Non-native English speakers require at least IELTS 6.5 (with at least 6 in all components) or equivalent (further details on equivalence of tests are available.
