This Summer School is organized by the United Nations University-Maastricht Economic and Social Research Institute on Innovation and Technology (UNU-MERIT) and Funded by the Global Gateway initiative of the European Union.

ITU UNU MERIT Summer School 2025

Language Proficiency: Fluency in English is mandatory.

Professionals: Individuals actively working on projects related to digital transformation or sustainability.

Government Officials: Policymakers from developing countries are strongly encouraged to apply.

Other Professionals: Employees from public, private, and non-governmental organizations involved in digital development and technology are eligible.

Participants are expected to actively engage in all Summer School activities.

The university has taken up a new approach by awarding full scholarships on yearly basis to attract international students from across the globe.

The Holland Maastricht University Scholarships are awarded for a duration of 13 months for one year postgraduates and 25 months in case of a two year postgraduate course.

Host country: Students can take the scholarship in Netherland  

Host institute: Maastricht University is the host institute of this scholarship

Level of study: Scholarships are available for post graduate study programs

Courses: Scholarships are available for any field of study available at Maastricht University

Benefits: Grant will cover student’s tuition fee, living, health and pre academic training expenses  

Benefits

 A full-time salary ranging from €2,872 in the first year to €3,670 gross per month in the final year

 Initial employment contract of 1 year, with potential extension to 4 years

Commuting expense contribution

Holiday leave of 232 hours for a 38-hour working week, with additional leave for those working 40 hours

Access to university sports facilities at a discounted rate

Professional development opportunities, including participation in national and international conferences

Eligibility 

Applicant must have non- European passport

Must have a strong academic background (top 10 students in each field will be consider for scholarship)

If applicant have already received a degree from Leiden University then he/ she is not eligible to submit application

Students who already receiving a scholarship from Netherland cannot apply for Leiden University excellence scholarship program
