ADB-JSP Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidate must be a citizen of an ADB borrowing member country.

  • Or must be a citizen of Japanese ODA scholarship eligible country.

  • Must not hold dual citizenship of any developed country.

  • Have a good health.

  • Gotten a master's degree admission in a designated partner institute.

  • Have a bachelor's degree and high academic scores.

  • At least two years of full-time work experience after earning a degree from a university.

  • Proficient in English, both verbally and in writing.

  • Candidate must not be more than 35 years old by the time of application deadline (in some cases, it can be extended with approval from the Japanese government).

  • Committed to returning home for at least two years following graduation from school.

  • Not be associated with ADB-related work.

ADB-JSP Scholarship Application Process

  • Students are required to request an application form by the selected partner institution.

  • After getting the scholarship form, enter your personal details like name, nationality, address, email, mobile number etc.

  • Provide responses to the questions posed, including any additional resources that may be required.

  • The reasons behind enrolling in a particular course at a particular college.

  • Be sure to specify your area of interest.

  • Attach the accurate required documents:

  • Latest Income Tax return Certificate or monthly/ annually salary statement.

  • Certificate of Family Income/ Parent’s Income.

  • Previous Academic Transcripts

  • Carefully review your complete application.

  • Students are required to send that completed ADB-JSP application form along with required documents to the partner institution of your choice.

  • Application should be sent at least 6 month in advance to the planned time you wish to start your studies.

How Candidates Will Be Selected For ADB-JSP Scholarship?

In accordance with the ADB's eligibility requirements and selection criteria, the educational establishment will screen and rank the applicants. The educational establishment may get in touch with the candidates for additional information during the evaluation process. A description of the grading system that serves as the foundation for the ranking will be included on the academic institution's ranked list of applicants for ADB consideration.

  • The academic institutions' submissions will be reviewed by ADB, which will then present award recipients to the Executive Director of Japan for formal approval based on ADB's selection criteria.

  • ADB will provide recommendations regarding the successful candidates to educational establishments once they have received approval from the Executive Director of Japan.

  • The educational establishment will notify all applicants of the selection process's outcome and begin making preparations for the recipients to accept their scholarships.

  • The educational establishments will make arrangements for the scholarship recipient to sign a document acknowledging their acceptance of the award, in which they pledge to return to their home nation after completing their studies.

  • Through the university, ADB will send appropriate congratulatory letters to scholars.

ADB-JSP Scholarship Important Instructions

  • There is no need for a separate application to Asian Development Bank.

  • You are required to submit the completed application form and all copies of your academic records to the institution at least six months prior to the start of the intake you want to join.

  • The ADB will only consider applicants for scholarships who have been accepted and endorsed by their academic institutions.

  • The scholar's family and additional expenses will not be covered by the ADB-JSP.

  • The fact that you have submitted the application or been admitted by the educational establishment does not imply that you have been granted a scholarship; As a result, you should wait to make any decisions about your job or anything else until you have been informed by the school that you have been granted a scholarship.

ADB-JSP Scholarship Deadline

  • The deadline for applications for ADB- Japan Scholarship Program 2024 may vary for all partner institutions according to their intake deadlines.

  • The scholarship awarding process will take place between July 24, 2024 and September 29, 2024.

  • By November 2024, applicants who successfully got selected for the ADB- Japan Scholarship Program 2024 will be notified.
