Are you a published writer or literary translator from Pakistan or anywhere in the world? Here’s your chance to live and write in one of Spain’s most beautiful and culturally rich cities—Granada. The Granada UNESCO City of Literature International Writers in Residence Programme 2025 is now open for applications, and it’s fully funded.

About the Residency

Hosted by the City of Granada (Spain) and its partners including the University of Granada, this prestigious international residency invites authors and translators from around the world to stay in the heart of Granada for a 30-day literary experience.

Who Can Apply?

This residency is open to all nationalities, including Pakistani authors, as long as you meet the following criteria:

  • You have at least two published books (fiction, non-fiction, poetry, drama, or translation).
  • Your work is not self-published.
  • You are willing to engage with local literary events and cultural exchanges.
  • You can write in any language, though knowledge of English or Spanish is helpful for communication.

Residency Cover

This is a fully-funded opportunity, which means selected participants will receive:

  • Free accommodation at the Corrala de Santiago for 30 nights
  •  Full board (meals included)
  • Round-trip travel expenses
  • Opportunities to participate in literary events, workshops, and cultural activities
  • A chance to network with writers, translators, and publishers in Spain
