Are you a passionate writer or literary translator looking for international exposure? The Granada UNESCO City of Literature International Writers in Residence Programme 2025 in Spain is a golden opportunity for authors worldwide, including Pakistani writers, to nurture creativity and connect with a vibrant literary community.
This prestigious residency, organized by the City of Granada in collaboration with the University of Granada, will take place from 3 November to 2 December 2025. Selected participants will live and work in one of Europe’s most culturally rich cities, with all expenses covered.
Granada, declared a UNESCO City of Literature, is renowned for its inspiring blend of Moorish and Spanish heritage. With its iconic Alhambra, cobblestone streets, and thriving literary culture, the city is a perfect haven for writers seeking inspiration. Participants will not only enjoy a month-long stay but also get the chance to interact with local authors, translators, and literary organizations.
The selected writers and translators will benefit from:
• 30 nights of accommodation at the University of Granada’s Corrala de Santiago residence.
• Full board (meals included) in a private room.
• Travel expenses covered by the organizers.
• Opportunities to engage in literary workshops, educational activities, and cultural events with Granada’s literary community.
This residency is open to writers and literary translators from all over the world, including Pakistan. To apply, candidates must:
• Have at least two published books (fiction, poetry, or non-fiction).
• Demonstrate a strong commitment to literary work and cultural exchange.
• Be available for the full residency period (3 November – 2 December 2025).
This programme is not limited by geography or language. Pakistani writers and translators are fully eligible and encouraged to apply. It is a remarkable chance to gain international recognition, expand professional networks, and experience a rich literary culture in the heart of Spain.
The Granada UNESCO Literature Residency 2025 is more than a scholarship — it’s a cultural journey that allows writers to explore, create, and connect globally. If you are a writer from Pakistan (or anywhere else in the world) with at least two published works, this fully funded residency is an opportunity you should not miss.
