Discoveries Made On Nature In 2020 Will Bring Latest Inventions To The World

The world is getting transformed by every single minute. In 2020, we had seen so many discoveries and inventions the existence of which was not so sure in the last year. Similarly, we will face a lot of new things in 2021. Well, here we are going to discuss some exceptional and remarkable discoveries that have done in 2020, and hopefully, we can say that these discoveries are going to make new grounds in several fields of life. These innovations are based on researchers throughout the world from the worlds’ most renowned universities.

1.       How Suckerfish Surf

New York Times has revealed that Suckerfish that is also known as remoras are the hitchhikers of the Ocean. They are 1 to 3 feet long swimmers. They anchor themselves to Zebra Sharks and Blue Whales with a disc that looks like a suction cup. The disc as a flat and a sticky hat is arranged on their heads. This is an old discovery, however, the researchers have discovered that the suckerfish does not only aim to mooch a free ride. Besides this, they can actually surf along the back of their chauffeur. They can move along the body of their hosts. Near the dorsal fins and the blowholes of their hosts, they can make clusters. The research has done by the researchers Brooke Flammang, a biologist at the New Jersey Institute of Technology, and Jeremy Goldbogen, a marine biologist at Stanford University.

2.       How Much Sensitive Fish Fins Are

Adam Hardy, a neuroscientist from the University of Chicago and his lab found in 2020 that the fins of fishes are not only used for swimming and steering. However, it is discovered that the fins of fishes are as sensitive as the fingertips. The scientists studied the round gobies to conclude their research. The team injected a saline solution to euthanized fish to keep their nerves operating system normal during the experiment. Then a special device is used to record the pattern of electric impulses produced by nerves. The experiment showed the team that really fine detail was perceived by the fins. The researchers concluded that this experiment or discovery will enhance advancement in the technology of robotic sensory.

3.       Filtration System Of Tadpole-Like Sea Creatures

The researchers did work on the tadpole-like sea creatures, giant larvaceans. They are slightly larger and can be measured up to 4 inches in length. This tiny creature can freely live hundreds of feet below the surface of the sea, where there are very few chances of food.

These tiny creatures have their own specific filtration system the structure of which is called by the study author and bioengineer Kakani Katija from Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute. These tiny armless, as well as legless creatures, show their own secretions for constructing the elaborate clouds of snot that complete with ridged walls, cavities, shafts, and waterfalls. It is further discovered that these tiny creatures can filter out elements that are smaller than viruses and also smaller than the HEPA filters or medical-grade. So, while studying this particular filtration system the medical devices or filters can be improved.

4.       How Big Bumblebees Are

It is the belief that Bumblebees are clumsy in their reputation, but the reality is, somehow different than this statement. On a summer day, it is observed by an engineer, Sridhar Ravi from the University of New South Wales in Canberra that bees can easily navigate around shrubs and branches. He showed the appalling reactions that an organism having a small brain is still capable of overcoming such challenges. The engineer along with his companions made an experiment in the lab that how bees work. Ravi, after this experiment, says that robots may not be required to have a big complicated processor to navigate their surroundings. However, this discovery can also lead to some other improvements and innovations in robotics.

5.       What Type Of Armor A Leaf Cutter Ants’ Body Has

A discovery recently taken by evolutionary biologist Hongjie Li revealed that the armor of a leaf-cutter ant’s body shows an extra mineral-based protective coating. Further study on the armor of the leafcutters revealed that the aunts do not only get armor with a mineral-based protective coating but the ants develop them in a snap when they need it, explained by Currie.

Well, it is incredible that the ants have the capability to be improved on this projection through rapidly producing the light and this thin nano-crystal coating. Well, this discovery can lead to the inventions of the potential applications of nanomaterial coating to improve body armor.

The Final Thought

All these discoveries, no doubt, are going to offer new innovative ideas to the experts in the various fields. We are all time getting benefitted from nature in different aspects. This is the nature that tells us how to survive better and the mentioned discoveries are such examples. However, researchers throughout the world are still working to make life easier and better and this all is becoming possible because of the better research institutes and the interest of the people.
