The Centre for the Governance of AI (GovAI) seeks applications from researchers, policymakers, and professionals early in their careers to join the Winter Fellowship 2026 in London. About the Fellowship

The GovAI Winter Fellowship helps those starting their careers by giving them what they need to study important issues in AI governance. This includes resources, guidance, and a network. Fellows do their own studies while talking with experts and academics.

The fellowship includes:

• Independent Study: Fellows pick and lead their own AI governance study with help from a mentor.
• Skill Workshops: Fellows take part in hands-on workshops, peer feedback sessions, and Q&A with guest speakers.
• Global Network: Fellows join a group of researchers from universities, the tech industry, government, and civic groups.
• Mentorship: Fellows get personal feedback and career advice from GovAI researchers.

Fellowship Details

Who Should Apply?

This fellowship seeks applicants from the following groups:

• Recent graduates, or researchers who are just starting their work life.
• Practitioners and scholars in areas like academia, public policy, computer science, political science, economics, philosophy, sociology, and law.
• People with a strong interest in the governance, safety, and ethics of advanced AI.

Prior experience with AI or technical fields isn't needed. GovAI is interested in applicants from a variety of academic and professional backgrounds.

Fellowship Benefits

The fellowship provides:

• A £11,000 stipend for the three-month period.
