Who Can Apply?

To apply, you need to:

• Have a Ph.D. or something similar when you apply (or plan to get one before the fellowship begins)
• Be a citizen of a country that has ties with Japan
• Have solid academic skills and relevant research experience for your project.

Fellowship Benefits

The JSPS Fellowship is fully funded and offers:

• A monthly stipend of ¥362,000 (about $2,500)
• Round-trip airfare to Japan
• A settling-in allowance of ¥200,000 (around $1,400)
• Research support through a grant for the host institution to cover research costs.
