What is the Korean Language Speaking Contest?

How to Participate

Step 1: Create a Video Submission

• Long-Form Category: Make a 2-3 minute video speaking Korean.
• Short-Form Category: Submit a video of less than one minute.
• Upload your video on YouTube, including #howdykorea in the headline, and make it public.

Step 2: Choose Your Topic
Choose a theme that highlights your creativity and language skills.

• Long-form Category:
  • Share your favorite K-pop idol, drama, or web toon.
  • Share a humorous or unusual tale about learning Korean.
  • Compare Korean culture to your local country's traditions.
• Short Form Category:
  • Compare Korean cuisine, language, and culture to your own.
  • Imitate a Korean drama/movie character's speaking manner.
  • Share a unique feature of Korea that interests you.

Step 3: Submit your entry

• Fill out the online application form at the official contest website.
• Make sure your submission is sent between March 10 and April 27, 2025.

Who Can Participate?

Non-Korean nationals and non-native-speaking abroad Koreans are welcome.
