Research Ireland has rolled out the 2025 Enterprise Fellowships, giving researchers a chance to connect academic work with real-world industry. This program focuses on teamwork, boosting new ideas, and making research more relevant in different fields.

Fellowship Details

Fellowship Streams

The 2025 Enterprise Fellowships offer two main paths for people looking to advance their research and careers:

1. Placement Stream

• Eligibility: This is for academic staff, postdocs, and PhD students who are nearing the end of their studies.
• Structure: Fellows work directly in a business environment, giving them hands-on experience with industry.
• Duration: You can choose to be involved for 1 to 24 months, either full-time or part-time.
• Background: This stream carries on the goals of the old SFI Industry RD&I Fellowship Programme.

2. Partnership Stream

• Eligibility:  This is aimed at postdoctoral researchers and late-stage PhD students.
• Structure: Fellows focus on research at a university while closely working with a business partner.
• Duration: You can commit to either 12 or 24 months of full-time research.
• Background: This stream is based on the previous IRC Enterprise Partnership Scheme for postdocs.

Enterprise Partner Engagement

Both streams need you to work with a business partner, which can be:

• Large companies
• Small and medium-sized businesses
• Charities
• Non-profit groups or community organizations
• State agencies or public bodies (for the Partnership Stream)
