Scottish varsity to establish campus in Knowledge Park

Lahore: The Punjab government, in collaboration with the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, Scotlandis planning to build a campus of University of Strathclyde, knowledge park in Lahore. In this sense, the ceremony was held in before the technical session on the second day of the International Conference on Higher Education and Global political dialogue and knowledge parks.

Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed by the Secretary of Higher Education Abdullah Khan Sumbal and by Executive Dean of Strathclyde University Dr. Anthony McGrew. Education Minister Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan, Parliamentary Secretary for Higher Education Mehvish Sultan and education director of the British Council for South Asia Michael Potts were also present on the ceremony.

Rana Mashhood said at the time that it would be a breakthrough for youth in Punjab, studying at world’s best university. Moreover he said that top five universities of the world will sign Memoranda of understanding with the Government of Punjab on Friday to improve the educational department of higher education services. Among all these universities, the US University which is famous for its research work about liver and kidneys disease.

More than 10.1 million students receive education in public sector schools whereas 10.05 million students are getting education in private schools, and between these 1.4 million enrolled students are currently funded by the Government of Punjab, he said. Later, Country Director of the British Council Peter Upton addressed the technical session of the conference, while the Vice-Chancellor of Fatima Jinnah university Prof Samina Amin Qadir, Bangladesh Asian Women University Vice Chancellor Dr. Fahima Aziz , Lead consulting education director of Malaysia Professor Jasbir Kaur and Research Director of British Council Dr. Maryum Rab emphasized the role of women in improving the research culture in Pakistan, research networks, and talent management.
