History
UCSI University began as the Canada Institute of Computer Studies, a computer-based training centre located in SS2, Petaling Jaya, that was subsequently named Sedaya College when it was accorded College status in 1989. In 2001, it evolved into Sedaya International College, to reflect its increasing international focus. Accorded University College status in 2003, it soon became UCSI University when it received University status in 2008.
Kuala Lumpur Campus
Situated on a 19-acre piece of land, the Campus is located in Cheras, Kuala Lumpur with convenient access to numerous facilities including banks, restaurants, transportation services, entertainment, and accommodation. Fully wireless, it is equipped with the latest cutting-edge technology to access the world of e-learning and e-resources.
Housing 7 different blocks, the Campus includes the Student Centre (Menara Gading), the Resource Centre, the Academic Blocks, and the Residential Halls.
Sporting facilities in this Campus include: basketball, badminton and squash courts, as well as a gymnasium, a football field, and a swimming pool. Other facilities include the four-level library, an auditorium, a recital hall, a multi-purpose hall, computer laboratories, residential halls, bookstores and cafeterias. Also available on Campus is an Apple Experience Centre.
The Campus faculty-centric facilities include: an Anatomy & Pathology Museum, Clinical Skills Laboratories, a Petrochemical Laboratory, a Physiology & Pharmacology Laboratory, a Molecular Biology Laboratory, and a Microbiology Laboratory, fashion design workshops, a Psychology Laboratory, as well as drafting and design studios.
The University is also constantly working with the industry to set up specialised labs which ensure students are updated with the latest industrial practices. Currently, the University has established laboratories jointly with National Instruments and RICOH under the School of Engineering and the School of Information Technology, respectively.
Due to its rapid expansion, an additional 48-storey building will be built on the existing Campus that will include a 5-Star hotel, twelve floors of parking bays and hostel accommodations for UCSI University students, administrative offices, restaurants, a ballroom and also a clubhouse.
Terengganu Campus
UCSI University is proud of its 56-acre Terengganu Campus that is located on the beautiful east coast of Malaysia at Bukit Khor, Marang, Terengganu. Designed to be a leading centre of learning and teaching for UCSI University and Malaysia in the School of Medicine, Faculty of Industrial Business and Faculty of Education, the state-of-the-art Campus that is fully-equipped with broadband technology and teaching facilities opened its doors in 2007 to medical students undergoing their clinical studies at the Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital of Kuala Terengganu.
Led by the Chief Operating Officer, Associate Professor Dr Keith Robert Thomas, from the UK, staff and students work with local institutions to fulfil the University’s social obligations and make a difference to local communities. In educating and training doctors, businessmen and women, English teachers and early childhood practitioners to be experts and leaders in their fields, students and staff work in learning communities on distinctive programmes that have relevance, currency and influence not only for today but for the future.
At the Terengganu Campus, students have the opportunity to study, learn and grow in a supportive and stimulating environment that is inspired by the outstanding natural beauty of Terengganu: a state that is endowed with 225km of sandy white beaches and swaying palm trees; crystal clear waters and exotic islands; sea shells, coral and turtles; lush virgin tropical jungle; dazzling rivers, waterfalls and lakes; colourful boats in working fishing villages. Local and international students are invited to Terengganu to experience ‘learning internationally; studying locally’ for a Terengganu experience not to be missed.
Sarawak Campus

Also housed at the Sarawak Campus is the University’s Centre of Excellence in Hospitality and Tourism. projects that the Malaysian government has endorsed to radically develop the nation by 2020.
Future Developments in Negeri Sembilan
The Bandar Springhill development involves the setting up of Malaysia’s first, state-of-the-art private teaching hospital which would initially have 400 beds, but, would upon completion, be able to accommodate 1000 beds. The first phase includes the construction of a new building for the University’s Faculty of Medical Sciences, student accommodations, an international school and a 5-star resort and convention centre. This entire development was recently listed by the government as Entry Point Project 14; a Premium Health Education Cluster under the Economic Transformation Programme’s Education National Key Economic Area.
International Collaboration
UCSI University, through its International University Collaboration Centre, has entered into collaborative agreements with various foreign universities in Australia, New Zealand, United Kingdom, United States and Canada which recognise the University as a premier education institution that provides quality education of international standards.
Co-Operative Education Training Programme
Through its innovative academic curriculum, students at UCSI University also enjoy the unique benefits of its Co-Operative Education Training Programme (Co-Op) to enhance their employability. The Co-Op integrates classroom learning with workplace training in Co-Op employer organisations. Students complete two months’ work experience for every year of study. Upon graduation, they would have six to eight months’ work experience to stand ready for full-time employment.
Currently, there are more than 1000 employer organisations registered as Co-Op employers. Every year this number is rising, providing more avenues for students to be job-ready from the day they graduate.
