The education department has forbidden using of mobile phones to teachers. To make sure that the ban is implemented, principals have been engaged to collect cell phones from teachers in the morning assembly and return backs them at the end of school times. Before students, now teachers also will not be able to use phones during school times.

A teacher of Government Girls School told “our principal said that we are not permitted to use mobiles in the school. So that head teacher collected the cell phones from us in the morning and returned them later in the day,”

Executive District Officer, Zahoorul Haq established the rule. He said “yes, we have taken the decision as there was information that teachers were wasting time on mobile phones during school time. The decision has been taken in the best interest of students.”

The EDO said in the past the department had tried to check the use of mobile phones in classrooms but majority of the teachers did not take the directives seriously. In situation of an emergency teacher can use his cell phones with the permission of the principle.

To answer a question, the authorized said there was already a prohibition on the use of mobile phones by students in school. The students of schools don’t have mobile phones. For instance someone is found using a mobile phone; we are directed to warn them.
