With all the climate issues, pandemics, and environmental problems we’re facing today, it’s clear that working together globally in science is crucial. To address this, the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) are inviting researchers to collaborate through their CAS-TWAS Grants for Cooperation on Sustainability Science 2025.

This program is a great chance for researchers from developing countries to team up with top research institutions in China to tackle sustainability challenges.

What is the CAS-TWAS Sustainability Science Grant?

The CAS-TWAS grant is a two-year funding opportunity for research projects that work toward the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. It aims to bring together scientists from developing countries and experts from CAS-TWAS Centers of Excellence in China for collaborations.

Eligibility Criteria

  • You have to be a TWAS Member or a TWAS Young Affiliate.
  • The main applicant can’t be from China.
  • Your project needs to work directly with one of the CAS-TWAS Centers of Excellence.
  • There’s no age limit.
  • Projects should match the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Scholarship Benefits

  • Funding: You can receive up to RMB 600,000 (about USD 83,000) over two years, with RMB 300,000 available each year.
  • Research Collaboration: Work together with one of six CAS-TWAS Centers of Excellence located in China.
  • Travel Support: Get help for research trips, student exchanges, and training sessions.
  • Networking: Meet experts from around the world and help work towards the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
