Federal Aid
The US Department of Education provides aid to citizens (and eligible non-citizens) of the US to pursue higher education. Federal aid typically includes federal Direct, grants and work-study funds. Subsidized and unsubsidized Direct Loans are federal, low-interest loans.
Subsidized loans are need-based and the federal government pays the interest while you are enrolled at least half-time.
Federal grants are awarded on the basis of financial need and do not require repayment. Federal Work-Study provides work opportunities, typically on campus, based on financial need. Pay rates vary depending upon the position.

The scholarship covers all the expenses such as tuition, books, incidental fees, and full residence support for four years. Criteria:
To be eligible, you must be an international (visa) student who has applied for admission to an undergraduate program in Waterloo's Faculty of Science. Scholarships will be awarded based on academic achievement, the impact a scholarship will have on your studies, and what motivates you to become a scientist.
Scholarships are awarded only after a student has received an offer of admission to a Faculty of Science program.
The renewable scholarships are dependent on maintaining an 80% overall cumulative average each term.

CATS Fellowships 2025/2026

Kalman Award for International Heritage Studies
One or more awards are given to full or part-time undergraduate or graduate students enrolled in the Diploma in Cultural Resource Management, the Graduate Professional Certificate in Cultural Heritage Studies or any degree program at the University of Victoria.
Eligibility
In-Course scholarships, awards, medals and prizes are offered to undergraduate students who have completed a minimum of 12.0 units for credit, of which 10.5 units are graded using the standard nine point scale, in two of the three terms of study in the previous academic year (May to April). In-course scholarships, awards and prizes are awarded in the subsequent winter session (September to April).


At Maple International College of Secondary Studies, our approach is to make education accessible for international students. Through this scholarship, we want to acknowledge the calibre of the incoming students. Scholarship awards will take some burden away from the parents and guardians of the incoming students.
