Université de Montréal (UdeM) has a great chance for international students with its UdeM Exemption Scholarship. This program cuts down tuition fees, making it easier for talented folks from around the world to study in Canada.

What is the UdeM Exemption Scholarship?

The UdeM Exemption Scholarship helps international students by waiving the extra tuition fees that usually apply to those who aren’t from Canada. The aim here is to attract bright and skilled students from different parts of the globe to enrich the cultural vibe at UdeM.

You can apply for this scholarship for winter 2025, summer 2025, fall 2025, and winter 2026.

Who is Eligible?

  • Be an international student (not French or French-speaking Belgian students).
  • Not enrolled in an independent study program or a short undergraduate program (such as a certificate, major, minor, short program, or preparatory year).
  • It's really important to keep your study authorizations, like your CAQ and study permit, up to date while you're in your program.
  • Be enrolled full-time throughout their academic program (unless an allowed absence is granted).
  • Not eligible for another type of tuition fee exemption.

Scholarship Amounts

The scholarship amounts depend on what level you’re studying and how well you’ve done academically. All amounts are in Canadian dollars and are taken straight off your tuition fees.

Undergraduate Programs 

The scholarship amount depends on how well the applicant has done academically: 

  • Level A: $458.02 for each credit, which comes to about $6,870.30 for a session (15 credits), adding up to around $13,740.60 for the year (30 credits).
  • Level B: $218.28 for each credit, totaling about $3,274.20 per session, making it around $6,548.40 for the year.

Graduate Programs – Master’s 

  • If you're looking at research-based programs, it’s about $336.66 per credit. That comes to around $5,050 per session, adding up to roughly $15,150 a year for three sessions. 
  • For non-research programs, the cost is a bit lower at $239.75 per credit, which works out to about $3,596.25 per session, totaling around $10,788.75 for the year.

Graduate Programs – PhD 

Students don’t have to worry about extra tuition fees. They receive the same compensation as Quebec students, which is around $509.08 per credit. That comes to roughly $7,636.20 a session, or around $22,908.60 each year.
