23 Pakistani Universities Ranked among Top 500 Universities in QS Asia University Rankings 2019

23 Pakistani Universities have been able to mark their place in top 500 Universities of Asia. The QS Asia University Rankings for 2019 released today has ranked NUST at 87 th position. Last year NUST was ranked at 91 st position and now it has improved its position to 87 th . It is indeed matter of pride for Pakistan, as the country’s higher education institutes are in news for all the wrong reasons. This news can be regarded as breath of fresh air amid corruption and deformities in Universities.

Debuting Pakistani Universities In the List

In QS Asia rankings 2018, 16 Pakistani universities were included and this year the number has increased by 7 more. Baharia University Islamabad, International Islamic University Islamabad, University of Sargodha, University of Sindh, Lahore College for Women University (LCWU), University of Central Punjab (UCP) and University of Management and Technology Lahore (UMT) have made their debut among top Pakistani Universities in this list this year.

The Pakistani Universities Which have Improved Their Ranks

Apart from Nust, Lahore University of management sciences has improved its position from 103 to 95, Quaid-e-Azam University from 133 to 109, University of Engineering and Technology from 200 to 171, and Aga Khan University from 234 to 195.

The Pakistani Universities which deteriorated their positions this year

Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences( PIEAS) deteriorated its position from 128 to 146, University of Karachi from 193 to 251-260 band, Institute of Space Technology from 271-280 band to 351-400 band, NED University of Engineering and Technology from 301-350 band to 351-400 band, The University of Lahore from 301-350 band to 401-450 band, University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Lahore from 301-350 band to 401-450 band and Mehran University of Engineering & Technology from 351-400 band to 401-450 band.

These rankings aim at ameliorating the education system of higher education institutes around the world. These international rankings are working as tool to evaluate the progress each institution is making in education each year. It is a source of consultation for those students who are looking to get admissions in local and foreign Universities to study abroad.
