Would you prefer to study at Oxford or Leeds Beckett University? I think your answer is most probably Oxford as it is a very big name in the world of education. Everyone wants to study in the best of the university. There can be more than one reasons for that.

First of all may be you because you think their education quality and system is better than other universities. Then because you think that studying there is more beneficial for your career than studying in other university. Or because you think student life there would be better and you want to live that.

In today’s article, I will be discussing how important it is to study in an elite university to make the best of the career or does it even matter at all. For now, world has the impression that those who study at one of elite universities tend to be more successful in future than those who didn’t.

What are Elite Universities

All of the most top ranked universities are Elite universities. Oxford is one of the top ranked universities of world along with Cambridge, Harvard, MIT and many others known Elite Universities. Since not everyone gets to study in these universities though everyone wants to, it increased the value of the universities and those who study there. So, only students who get admission there, are those who really proved themselves best among a huge crowd.

There are two biggest ranking organizations that decide the ranks of the universities every year based on research and statistics. Only their ranking is worldwide accepted. Following I have shared world’s top 20 universities that are Elite universities.

How Elite Universities are Better

If we discuss how elite universities are better, there is going to be long list of accomplishments, achievements and competitions. Usually ranking of universities depends on the ranking organization’s methodology. The factors they use to decide what universities are better are following.

1. Academic Reputation

2. Employer Reputation

3. Student to Faculty Ratio

4. Citations Per Faculty

5. International Faculty and Student Ratio

It means that above mentioned elite universities are best at these 5 factors than any other university in the world. These are the most important features that every university must have.

Now how elite universities are better for students. Students go abroad for education. They spend all their resources on it so they definitely deserve quality education and the best of quality education would be found in elite universities. Students will be taught by the best and most qualified teacher of the world. Everyone admires elite universities in the world and if you are student there, you will also looked up to.

All from multinational biggest companies to small local organization, all prefer students who studied at one of elite universities. So, there is no argument that studying at an elite university is best for any student if he/she gets admission there.

Are Elite Students More Successful

Now is the most important question whether the students from elite universities are more successful than those who studied in average ranked educational institutes. Answer to this, as expected, is “YES”. Elite university students are not necessarily more successful than other students but they do have more and better opportunities and they definitely won’t be jobless.

I was reading a research conducted by usnews.com in which they studied about 11,745 very successful people of United States of America, not to forget that most of the elite universities are there. These successful people included CEOs, politicians, federal judges, multi-millionaires and billionaires, business leaders and globally most powerful men and women. About 94 percent of them had studied at a college or university.

Only about 3 percent students get the chance to study at one of elite universities. Of the mentioned 94 percent, 50 percent leaders had attended an elite university. Those 3 percent students who studied at elite universities make 50 percent of the top leaders of United States. See usnews.com on elite school matter.

So, without a doubt, elite ranked universities really matter to make best career. The reason is that you are already on the list of biggest of organization and companies when you are accepted at one of elite universities. These universities already accept only the top scorer or most intelligent of the student crow then provide them the opportunities to discover and polish their skills. They are taught and made creative and confident. After all these universities are not called elite for nothing.

Another reason often used by experts is that the students admitted at elite universities are already either from very rich families or they are born extremely intelligent. So, they can get to top even from the little they get. As true as it may be, but to some extent. I would again repeat that these universities are not self-ranked but esteemed by the biggest of organization and experts.
