Who Can Apply?

If you want to apply for the FAO Internship Programme, here's what you need to know:

  • Nationality: You should be from a country that’s a member of FAO.
  • Education: You need to be either enrolled in a college or university, or you should have graduated recently.
  • Language: Know at least one of the FAO's official languages, including English, French, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, or Russian. Knowing another one is beneficial.
  • Age: You need to be between 21 and 30 when the internship starts.
  • Skills: Good communication skills, being adaptable to different cultures, and knowing your way around basic computer programs are important.
  • Residency/Visa: Make sure you have the right residency or immigration status in the country where the internship is taking place before you start.
  • Family Relations: If you have close family members (like a brother, sister, mom, or dad) working at FAO, you won’t be able to apply.

Duration and Benefits

  • Duration: Internship programs last between 3 to 11 months.
  • Stipend: Interns get a monthly payment of up to $700 in the local currency. If interns are sponsored, the sponsoring organizations will provide the stipend directly.
  • Medical Coverage: FAO covers medical costs for any incidents that happen during the assignment, paying the whole premium. Interns need to sort out their own medical insurance for any non-work-related issues while they are there.
