Program Details

Who Can Apply?

The Locarno Filmmakers Academy welcomes young, passionate filmmakers from around the world. To be eligible, you need to:

• Be between 18 and 35 years old.
• Have directed at least one short film that was selected for an international festival.
• Be conversant in English (because all sessions are held in English).
• Share your artistic concept that reflects the spirit of the Locarno Film Festival.

What’s Covered?

While participants must fund their own travel fees, the Locarno Filmmakers Academy offers:

• Free accommodation at the Locarno Youth Hostel from August 6-16, 2025.
• Festival accreditation provides admission to all screenings.  
• Daily food coupons (CHF 10 per day).
• Immersive experience with top movie experts.
