The Government of Cuba offers a remarkable opportunity to aspiring Pakistani students to enroll in an undergraduate program of MBBS in Cuba. This one scholarship of undergraduate studies (Medicine) by the Government of Cuba is an attempt to build strong ties between the two nations, and it is a beacon of hope for those looking to pursue their dreams of medical education on an international platform. We strongly encourage students who have recently completed their FSC (Pre-Medical) to seize this outstanding scholarship opportunity. Please note that candidates awaiting their FSC results are not eligible to apply as per the scholarship requirements. All Pakistani/ AJK nationals are eligible to apply
Applying candidates must have obtained at least 70% marks in FSc/ A-Level (Pre-Medical) and also 60% or above marks in their SSC/ Matric/ O-Level.
Unfortunately, result awaiting candidates cannot apply for the scholarship.
The age limit for this scholarship is between 18 to 25 years as on the closing date.
Applicants are also required to submit valid USAT-M test scores, must be obtained after January 2022.
Following are the expense that the scholarship will cover for each selected student:
Tuition fees
Hostel accommodation and toiletries
Food as per Cuban Government rules
A limited amount as a Contribution to living expenses in the form of a stipend will be provided by the Cuban Government in Cuban Pesos.
A one-time Rs 300,000/- grant will be provided to the scholarship awardee after their departure to Cuba. (Note: The scholar should have a working bank account in their name in Pakistan)
The following expenses will not be covered by the scholarship and must be managed by the student himself or his guardian:
Round trip air-tickets
Purchasing halal food
Medical insurance for diseases or other causes
Living expenses
Visa fee
Important Note: The Cuban Government is funding this scholarship, thus the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan will not have any additional financial responsibilities in any situation.
All candidates are required to sign up for the HEC online portal by visiting HEC official website.
After signing up, complete your profile by entering the required information.
Then select the "Learning Opportunities Abroad" option from the menu bar and start filling out the scholarship (Medicine) application form.
Fill out the scholarship application form by providing accurate information and contact details. After that, submit the application before the deadline (31st August 2023 till 4:00 PM).
After submitting the application, get it printed to be signed by the applying candidate.
At this stage, no additional documents are required to be submitted along with the application form.
Only the shortlisted candidates will be asked to submit these following documents online:
Completed HEC application form submitted through the Online Application Portal (signed)
SSC Certificate/DMC/Degree with IBCC attestation OR O-Level Certificate (Science Group) with IBCC equivalence
FSc. Certificate/DMC/Degree with IBCC attestation OR A-Level Certificate (Pre-Medical) with IBCC equivalence
NADRA-issued Birth Certificate
Copy of Father or Guardian's CNIC
Original Certificate of No Criminal Record
Photocopy of valid passport (with a validity of more than 06 months)
Original Medical Certificate along with the HIV/AIDS report, issued by the Medical Superintendent of the District Headquarters Government Hospital, and further attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA).
The candidates will be shortlisted based on their USAT-M test scores, only if they stand eligible on the minimum matric and FSc (Pre-Medical) marks. It is advised to note that USAT-M test scores must be obtained after January 2022. If a candidate doesn’t have valid USAT-M test scores, he or she can visit the official website of ETC for additional information.
Applications that are incomplete and do not include the documents listed above will be rejected. HEC will not provide any reasons for rejection or engage in further communication.
Once the candidate successfully completes the undergraduate degree program in Medicine in Cuba, they will need to participate in the NEB Examination and meet all the specified requirements for foreign graduates to become eligible for registration with the Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC), Islamabad.
It is the sole responsibility of students applying for professional degrees, such as Medicine, to confirm the accreditation status of their chosen program from the relevant council, namely the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC).
