The MOFA Taiwan Fellowship is a program created by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs that helps scholars and experts from around the world who are interested in conducting research about Taiwan and its relationships with other regions, especially the Asia-Pacific area and Chinese studies. Since it began, the fellowship has welcomed more than 1,500 scholars from 93 different countries to come and share their insights and knowledge.
Each year, the fellowship offers 12 spots specifically for scholars coming from developing APEC economies, making sure that even those who might not have as many resources can still participate. If you’re thinking of applying, keep in mind that the application period is usually in May and June. Once accepted, researchers can kick off their projects as early as the following January, giving them a chance to dive deep into their studies right away. It’s a great opportunity for anyone looking to explore Taiwan’s role in the broader context of international relations and cultural studies.
