
Hey there! Exciting news – the Youth Innovation Challenge for 2025 is officially open for applications! This is your opportunity to turn creative ideas into practical solutions for protecting our oceans and gain worldwide recognition. The challenge is organized by the Global Environmental Education Partnership (GEEP) along with Taiwan’s Ocean Conservation Administration (OCA), the U.S. EPA, and NAAEE. Young environmental leaders are invited to pitch their ideas for a chance to win a trip to Taiwan!
What is the Youth Innovation Challenge?
YIC 2025 is all about giving young people a chance to share their cool ideas for keeping our oceans safe. They’re looking for proposals that:
- Support marine life and conservation efforts
- Tackle problems like ocean debris and waste
- Foster partnerships between businesses and the community for a sustainable ocean

Eligibility Criteria
To apply, you need to:
- Be between 15 and 30 years old
- Apply as an individual or a team (just one entry per person or team)
- Send in your proposal and video in English
- Include a 3-minute video pitch and answer some important proposal questions

- Global Spotlight - Finalists will see their work shared worldwide through GEEP, NAAEE, and their partners.
- Cash Prize of $1,000 - The top three winners will each get $1,000.
- Paid Trip to Taiwan - Winners will head to Taiwan for the award ceremony in October 2025, with travel, accommodation, and meals taken care of.
- Certificate of Achievement - All 15 finalists will receive an official certificate recognizing their achievement.
