About ISRP

The International Summer Research Program (ISRP) is a nine-week intense research experience for students at partner universities throughout the world. Participants will work with faculty mentors from fields such as neuroscience, engineering, oceanography, data science, cognitive science, and more. The program finishes with the ISRP Research Symposium, when students present their findings.

Program Details

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible, candidates must:

• Nominated by their home university (one of UC San Diego's partner universities).
• Commit to the entire program duration.
• Meet the English proficiency requirements:
  • TOEFL (iBT: 83, Paper-based: 550)
  • IELTS (7.0 minimum)
  • Duolingo English Test (DET: 115 minimum)

Research Opportunities

Participants may select up to three faculty mentors from a variety of departments, including:

• Cognitive Science
• Electrical & Computer Engineering
• Scripps Institution of Oceanography
• Data Science & AI
• Chemistry & Biochemistry
• Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering

Program Costs

The overall program fee is $5,500 USD, which includes:

• On-campus housing (single occupancy for 9 weeks)
• Visa Document Processing
• Research supplies and lab fees
• Activities and Excursions
