Scholarships for international students
International students at ETH should seek first in their home country for financial support or scholarships to study at ETH.
Bachelorstudents are eligible after passing successfully the first year examination in all parts.
Masterstudents (without an ETH-BSc) may apply after a min of 40 ECTS in the preceding master study year.
Non-participation on examination(s) due to illness must be proofed to us with a medical certification, issued not older than one day after the planned exam.
ETH Zurich is now accepting applications for its scholarship program aimed at international BSc and MSc students for the 2024/25 academic year. This program seeks to assist exceptional students in their academic journeys at ETH Zurich.
To qualify for the scholarship, international students must meet specific criteria: non-Swiss BSc students must have successfully passed all parts of their first-year exams, while non-Swiss MSc students without an ETH-BSc degree are required to have completed a minimum of 40 KP in their preceding master’s study year.

Fully Funded International Youth
Don’t miss the Youth Empowerment Forum 2025 in Geneva, Switzerland — the most anticipated youth conference of 2025! This fully funded international forum will take place from September 4 to 7, 2025, and welcomes young leaders from across the globe.
Over the course of four days, participants will have the unique opportunity to visit the United Nations Headquarters, tour CERN, and dive into Swiss culture. With around 150 applicants from all corners of the world, this forum promises an unforgettable experience of learning, networking, and cultural exchange.
Criteria:
Nationality: Applicants from all around the world are eligible to apply for the Youth Empowerment Forum 2025 in Switzerland.
Age Range: Open to individuals aged 16 to 46 years.
Nationality: Welcoming participants from all nationalities.


The global norm against biological weapons cannot be maintained without the inclusion of youth voices in the multilateral discussions taking place in the framework of the Biological Weapons Convention (BWC). Youth perspectives are key to create innovative solutions and generate long-term engagement. There are benefits to including the perspectives of young people from developing countries, where over 90% of the world’s youth reside.
Programme include
A series of online Biosecurity Diplomacy Workshops from 5 June to 5 July 2025, with approximately one session (two to three hours) per week.
A collaborative project to prepare in July 2025 and to be presented at the BWC Working Group on the Strengthening of the Convention in August 2025
A five-day field visit in Geneva from 11 to 15 August 2025 during the meetings of the BWC Working Group on the Strengthening of the Convention.

Benefits
ETH scholarships are granted as a secondary source of finance and do not cover the entire living and studying costs. They are eligible up to the end of the regular duration of studies set out in the respective programme regulations, plus two additional semesters. Scholarships are awarded based on both financial need and academic performance.


Required Documents
Parents’ definitive tax return from 2023, indicating taxable income, assets, and deductions.
Other scholarship decisions (country of origin, foundations) for 2024/25.
Loan decisions for 2024/25.
Completed and signed “Evidence of assets” form by parents.
Internship contract (if applicable).
Decree of orphan’s pension/old age pension/alimonies (if applicable).
Evidence of transport costs (if domicile is not in the City of Zurich).


Scholarship's Benefits
The Swiss Government Excellence scholarships amount varies with the level of study as Research, PhD, Fine Arts students will receive 1’920- Swiss Francs per month and Postdoctoral students will receive a sum of 3’500.- Swiss Francs per month.
Health insurance is provided.
Travel expenses are covered.
Study tours to various European regions and free dinner all sponsored by the Swiss government.
The scholarship winners will be provided with other living allowances and won’t be required to pay any kind of course fee.
