The Alec Courtelis Awards for Outstanding Ph.D. Students
The Alec Courtelis Awards are made possible through a generous endowment established in 1996 by the late Louise Courtelis in honor of her late husband, a former chairman of the Board of Regents, and in recognition of his interest and support for international students. The awards are presented annually at the International Student Achievement Awards Ceremony.
Eligible:
Ph.D. students holding a non-immigrant F-1 or J-1 student visa, in good standing, and with a minimum GPA of 3.0. The student must be enrolled full time for the semester in which they are nominated, unless they are actively working on their dissertation.

Eligibility
Students must be enrolled at one of our participating partner institutions at the time of application and nomination;
U.S. or international students are eligible;
Students may be of any age, any major, or any year in school: this includes seniors who intend to complete their projects in the summer after graduation.
Students may implement the project alone or with others;
The project may take place anywhere in the world, including in the U.S.
The International Student Achievement Awards (ISAA) were established to highlight the accomplishments of international students at the University of Florida. The awards are made annually in recognition of the contributions of students who distinguish themselves not only by their exemplary academic achievements, but also by a wide range of accomplishments and contributions to UF and the community.

Application
A Projects for Peace proposal has two parts: a narrative and a budget spreadsheet.
Campus liaisons should work with the applicant to ensure the submitted materials conform with guidance.
Materials not conforming to guidelines will be returned for revision, which may result in missed deadlines.
