Who Can Apply?

This program welcomes applications from all nationalities, including those from Pakistan.

Applicants should meet the listed criteria to be considered.

  • A PhD must have been awarded on or after January 1, 2022.
  • The PhD must be completed before the fellowship starts.
  • Prior to submitting an application, applicants must have a KAUST faculty member agree to serve as their host.
  • A strong academic record and clear research ability are needed.
  • The research proposal has to be original, convincing, and fit with KAUST’s aims.

Fellowship Benefits

  • Annual Stipend: USD 75,000 (tax-free)
  • Research Budget:
    • USD 20,000 – CEMSE (Computer, Electrical & Mathematical Sciences and Engineering)
    • USD 30,000 – PSE (Physical Science & Engineering)
    • USD 40,000 – BESE (Biological & Environmental Science and Engineering)
  • Relocation Support: Up to USD 3,000
  • Travel Allowance: Annual airfare for fellow and dependents
  • Dependent Support: School/daycare funding for up to two children
  • Medical Insurance: Comprehensive coverage
  • Mentorship & Career Development: Personalized support, leadership training, and teaching opportunities
